Counselling
Psychologists complete years of graduate level education and professional training. As such, they develop the clinical skills required to offer clients meaningful support and interventions so they may begin to gain insight and achieve recovery from any emotional distress they are experiencing. Our Psychologists utilize an eclectic (and scientifically supported) approach to therapy and recovery, thus tailoring the therapeutic experience to your individual needs. For example, do you believe that your thoughts control your feelings or perhaps you're of the opinion that your feelings control what you think? Our Psychologists will collaborate with you to determine the best approach to help you reach your therapeutic goals. Therapy occurs within this supportive, genuine and empathic environment which facilitates your self awareness and emotional growth while empowering you on your journey of self discovery and recovery.
What to expect
Therapy and the development of the therapeutic relationship is intended to foster a safe and comfortable environment. This dynamic facilitates change through an exploration of individual and systemic factors which can contribute to any distress that you may be experiencing. If you are struggling with sleep, mere symptomatic resolution (ie. improvements in your sleep), may fail to address any underlying (and perhaps subconscious) factors (eg. anxiety and/or life transitions) which are impacting your emotional well-being. One of the goals of therapy is to provide insight and experiential learning into the potentially problematic thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behaviours which are impacting your psychological health. Insights learned in therapy and the correlated changes in behaviour can then be generalized to the external world and real-life settings leading to increased life satisfaction.
